MARION HEIGHTS — Margaret M. Sgro, 94, of 309 North St., Marion Heights, passed away Tuesday, July 8, 2014, at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community.

Born in Shamokin Jan. 2, 1920, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Edna Johns. She was educated in Shamokin schools and was a lifelong resident of the area. She was employed in the garment industry.

Margaret was married to the late James Sgro, who preceded her in death in 1979.

She was a member of the Church of the Holy Angels. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, going to the casinos and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Theresa James, of Marion Heights; a son, James Sgro and his wife, Patricia, of San Antonio, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Angela Sauerzopf, and her husband, Adolph, of Whitehall; grandchildren, Debra Dall and her husband, Curtis, of Lancaster, James Janolek, of St. Peter's, Fla.; Jesse James, of Coal Township; Lisa Beatson and her husband, David, of Kennett Square; Darlene Knight and her husband, Roland, of Michigan; Maria Sauerzopf, Betina Sauerzopf, Michael Sauerzopf and Christian Sauerzopf; great-grandchildren Daniel Dall, Matthew Dall, Sarah James, Gabrielle James, Alexander Beatson, Connor Beatson, Ryan Beaston and Nathan Beaston; a sister, Ellen Lemon and her husband, Donald, of South Carolina; and a niece, Jooyce Neaus.

SGRO — Margaret M. Sgro, 94, of 309 North St., Marion Heights. Relatives, friends and neighbors are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Church of the Holy Angels, 855 Scott St., Kulpmont, with Father Andrew Stahmer officiating.
