COAL TOWNSHIP — Sandra Marie Nestico, 92, of 920 W. Walnut St., passed away Wednesday evening, July 23, 2014, at her residence.

Born Nov. 15, 1921, in Isca Sull Ionio Catanzaro, Italy, she was a daughter of the late Caterina (Bressi) and Saverio Varano. She came to America by boat at 7.
Nestico graduated from Coal Township High School in 1942.
On Sept, 29, 1945, at St. Joseph Church, Coal Township, she married Anthony W. Nestico, who preceded her in death July 2, 1979.
She was a homemaker.
Her love of family was the most important aspect of Sandy's life. A parishioner of Our Lady of Hope Church, Coal Township, her faith was dear to her. She enjoyed sitting on her front porch and was an avid Penn State Nittany Lion football fan.
Mrs. Nestico was extremely proud of her loving family growing to include five generations.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Carmeline Kane-Raybuck and her husband, Skip Raybuck, of Coal Township, and Tonia King and her husband, Rick, of Warwick, Mass.; a son, Tony Nestico, of Coal Township; her darling niece, whom she helped raise, Jennie (Scicchitano) Dabulis, of Coal Township; eight grandchildren, Kelley Schimler, of Gainesville, Va., Tommy Kane, of Coal Township, Patrick Kane, of San Francisco, Calif., Santina King, of Warwick, Mass., Ricky King, of Warwick, Mass., Anthony Nestico, of Nescopek, Adrian Nestico, of Coal Township, and Tanay Nestico, of Danville; 10 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sandra was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Tom Kane; two brothers, Sam Varano and Frank Varano, and a sister, Maria Grazia Scicchitano.
NESTICO — Sandra Marie Nestico, 92, of 920 W. Walnut St., Coal Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady Of Hope Church, First and Chestnut streets, Coal Township. Interment will follow Mass at All Saints Cemetery, Elysburg. Family and friends are invited to call at the visitation from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday at James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Regional School, 2001 Clinton Avenue, Coal Township 17866 or Our Lady of Hope Church, 869 W. Chestnut St., Coal Township 17866.
