KINGSTON — Irene DiRienzo, 94, a lifelong resident of Mount Carmel, died peacefully Tuesday afternoon, July 29, 2014, at the Kingston Health Care Center, where she received loving care the past year.

Born in Mount Carmel, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Matzura) Troyan. She was the widow of the late Eugene DiRienzo, who preceded her in death Feb. 15, 1989. She worked for a time in area garment factories and later was a housewife. She enjoyed knitting and visits with her two beloved grandsons.
Irene was a member of SS Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, Mount Carmel.
Surviving are her daughter, Regina Thackara, and her husband, Thomas, of Kingston; two grandsons, Eugene Thackara and his wife, Kim, of Yeadon, and David Thackara and his wife, Susan, of Wyoming, Pa.; three sisters, Mary, of Connecticut, Mildred, of Mount Carmel, and Anna, of Florida; two brothers, Joseph, of Havertown, and Cyril, of North Carolina; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Genevieve and Katherine, and four brothers, Russell, Matthew, Emmanuel and John.
DIRIENZO — Irene DiRienzo, 94, a lifelong resident of Mount Carmel. Divine Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in SS Peter and Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church, 131 N. Beech St., Mount Carmel, with the Very Rev. Archpriest Michael Hutsko officiating. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. Viewing will be from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Friday, with Panahyda service at 10:15 a.m., in the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 27 N. Vine St., Mount Carmel, C.J. Lucas IV, supervisor.
