SHAMOKIN — Esther V. Wesolowski, 89, formerly of 118 S. Franklin St., Shamokin, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township. She was ill for the past several years.

She was born Feb. 10, 1925, in Shamokin, a daughter of the late Enoch and Helen (Andruscevege) Wesolowski.

She attended the former St. Stanislaus School in Shamokin, and was a graduate of Shamokin High School.

For many years, she was employed as the payroll supervisor at the former Arrow Company, both in Shamokin and Elysburg.

Esther was a very active member of the former St. Stanislaus Church, now Mother Cabrini Parish in Shamokin. Her faith in God was very important to her. Until illness prevented it, she would attend morning Mass each day.

She was actively involved in her church and helped at bingo, worked at picnics, cooked for church events and counted and recorded the weekly collections.

Esther enjoyed listening to music, attending the Community Concert Series at different locations, bowling and having breakfast with her friends after attending church.

Some of her happiest and most memorable times were spent with her family.

Survivors include a sister, Dolores Vanaskie, of Palmyra; nieces and nephews, Linda Stanfield, of Coal Township, Karen Inkrote, of Northumberland, Michael Vanaskie, of Concord, N.H., William Vanaskie, of Scottsdale, Ariz., Susan Ward, of Shamokin, Thomas Vanaskie, of Dunmore, John Vanaskie, of Shamokin, Mary Lou Osevala, of Palmyra, and Daniel Vanaskie, of Reamstown, and several great and great-great nieces and nephews.
