MOUNT CARMEL — Nellie J. Remetta, 74, a resident of Willow Courts Apartments and formerly of East Avenue, passed away Monday, Aug. 18, 2014, in Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.

She was born at Sunbury Community Hospital in Sunbury, Aug. 23, 1939, a daughter of the late Fred and Ethel (Dreher) Bingaman.

She attended Shamokin schools.

Nellie was a retired seamstress.

She was married June 27, 1970, in Grace United Church of Christ, Mount Carmel, to Frank P. Remetta Sr., who preceded her in death July 2, 1990.

Nellie was a member of Grace United Church of Christ and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2110 Auxiliary, both of Mount Carmel, and the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union (ILGWU).

Survivors include a son, Greg Campbell and his wife, Cecilia, of Las Vegas, Nev.; a stepson, Frank P. Remetta Jr. and his wife, Donna, of Catawissa; a stepdaughter, Theresa Harach and her husband, Edward, of Lancaster; two grandchildren, Eric Remetta and his wife, Kim, of Mechanicsburg, and Valerie Ambrose and her husband, Ted, of Mount Carmel; three great-grandchildren, Madelynn, Ryan and Brookelynn Remetta; a brother, Roger Bingaman and his wife, Linda, of Ringtown; a sister, Mary Alice Patkochis and her husband, Charles, of Pittston, N.J.; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, Fred Jr., Foster, Marlin and Adrian "Andy" Bingaman.

REMETTA — Nellie J. Remetta, of Willow Court Apartments, Mount Carmel. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at the Joseph J. Stutz Inc. Funeral Home, 40 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, Joseph J. Stutz III, supervisor, with the Rev. Joan Brown officiating. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. Viewing will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
