KULPMONT — Mildred Pochakilo, 86, formerly of 1046 Chestnut St., passed away Thursday, Aug. 28, 2014, at Mount Carmel Senior Living Community, where she was a guest since February 2013.

She was born in Coal Township, Dec. 11, 1927, a daughter of the late Klemens and Ludwika Dombroski.

She was a homemaker. She previously worked as a seamstress for various garment factories and retired as a nurse's aide at Danville State Hospital.

In May 1949, in St. Stanislaus Church, Shamokin, she married the late Paul Pochakilo.

She attended St. Stan's Parochial Grade School and graduated from Coal Township High School.

She was a member of the Patronage of Mother of God Church, Marion Heights, the American Legion Auxiliary, Kulpmont, and had attended the Senior Citizens Center. She was a faithful pierogie maker at the church.

She enjoyed playing pinochle with family and friends, cooking, baking and sewing. She also enjoyed traveling to various polka shows and loved to dance.

Survivors include three sons, Robert Paul Pochakilo, of Kulpmont, Mark Paul Pochak and his wife, Cheryl, of Harrisburg, and Gary Paul Pochakilo and his wife, Esther, of Kulpmont; a daughter, Judy Kyle, of Columbia, S.C.; six grandchildren, LeeAnn Boyle and her husband, Merrit, Scott Pochakilo, Aaron Pochakilo, Paul "PJ" Pochak and his wife, Sarah, Matthew Pochak and his wife, Sarah, and Eric Pochak; two great-grandchildren, Jacob Paul Pochak and Dean Paul Pochak; and a brother, Clement "Clem" Dombroski and his wife, Evelyn "Sis," of Glen Burnie, Md.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Joseph, Walter "Vatch," Tim, Edward "Daigs," Harry and Johnny.

POCHAKILO — Mildred Pochakilo, 86, formerly of 1046 Chestnut St., Kulpmont. A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Patronage of Mother of God Church, 155 Melrose St., Marion Heights, with the Rev. Mykola Ivanov as celebrant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Viewing will be from noon to 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, Panahyda service at 1 p.m., from the C.J. Lucas Funeral Home Inc., 1053 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, C.J. Lucas, supervisor. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Patronage of Mother of God Church, c/o Transfiguration Church, 303 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin 17872.
