GAMBRILLS, Md. — James J. Concannon, 80, formerly of Mulberry Street, Coal Township, passed away peacefully Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, surrounded by his loving family.

Jim was born Oct. 19, 1930, in Coal Township, and was a son of the late John D. and Martha (Cain) Concannon.
He graduated from Coal Township High School in 1948, served in the U.S. Army from 1948 through 1951 and later attended Ryder College in Trenton, N.J.
Jim retired from the U.S. government after serving many years in the Labor Department as the director of variances for OSHA.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Katherine (Kitty) Strausser; four children, Jeffrey, Kathleen Black, Laurie Ann Garey and her husband, Douglas, and J. Daniel and his wife, Beth; nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is his brother, John; his sister-in-law, Claire; his aunt, Betty Morgan, as well as many relatives and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas; his stepmother, Kathryn Parker, as well as a great-granddaughter.
CONCANNON — James J. Concannon, 80, formally of Mulberry Street, Coal Township. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2011, at Our Lady Hope Church, 863 W. Chestnut St., Coal Township.
