COAL TOWNSHIP — Elizabeth A. Hyssong, 67, of 101 N. Ash St., died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.

Born in Shamokin, July 23, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Jean (Feese) Dobson.

A lifelong Shamokin resident, she attended Shamokin High School and nursing school in Reading.

Elizabeth was a nursing assistant, having most recently worked for Nottingham Village Nursing Home. In the past, she worked for Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Mountain View Manor and Mansion Nursing Home.

On Dec. 11, 1982, in Shamokin, she married William Hyssong, who preceded her in death. She formerly was married to George Marshalek Sr.

She was of the Protestant faith.

Elizabeth enjoyed spending time with her family, family vacations, holidays and picnics.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and John Sockloski, of Shamokin; a son, George Marshalek Jr., of Sunbury; three grandchildren, Amanda Sockloski, Lacey Welsh and her husband, Geno, of Coal Township, and Logan Marshalek, of Sunbury; a great-granddaughter, Caymen Elizabeth Welsh; brothers and sisters, Diane Miller, of Steelton, Bonnie Noll, of Coal Township, William Dobson, of Shamokin, and Sharon Stone, of Shamokin; several nieces and nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Donna Pawlicki.


HYSSONG — Elizabeth A. Hyssong, 67, of 101 N. Ash St., Coal Township. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Leonard J. Lucas Funeral Home Ltd., 120 S. Market St., Shamokin, with the Rev. Richard Earl officiating. Burial will be in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. Viewing will be from 9 a.m. until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.
