MOUNT CARMEL — Maria Dorothy (Zsido) Chapel, 60, of 129 W. Third St., passed away suddenly in her home Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2012. She bravely fought breast cancer for the past six months.

Born in Shamokin Aug. 27, 1952, she was a daughter of Dorothy (Mihalick) Zsido, of Mount Carmel, and the late Alexander Zsido.

A lifelong resident of Mount Carmel, she attended school at St. John the Baptist Elementary School and was a 1970 graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School.

She worked many jobs through the years, including at Community Pharmacy, Sears, Turkey Hill, Wrigley's Gum and Rea and Derrick Pharmacy, to name a few.

Maria was baptized in St. John's Catholic Church in Mount Carmel.

She was an animal lover and will be sadly missed by her dog LoLo and her cat KitKat. She was a fashionista at heart and loved perfumes, makeup and fancy clothing. She will be greatly missed by many friends and family.

In addition to her mother, Maria is survived by a son, Richard A. Chapel, and fiancé, Amy Roseman, of Kulpmont; two brothers, James Zsido and wife, Loretta, of Delaware, and Gerald Zsido and wife, MaryAnn, of Elysburg; a sister-in-law, Flo Zsido, of Kulpmont, and several nieces and nephews.
