SUNBURY — A. Theresa Bucanelli, 83, of 800 Court St., ManorCare Health Services, formerly of 128 Birch St., Shamokin, passed away Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at ManorCare.

Born in Locust Gap, Feb. 2, 1929, Theresa was a daughter of the late Mary (Kain) and Hugh O'Neill.

She was a graduate of Mount Carmel Catholic High School, class of 1947.

On Nov. 25, 1954, at St. Joseph Church, Locust Gap, she was married to Ambrose J. Bucanelli, who preceded her in death Sept. 30, 1984.

A homemaker, she was a parishioner of Mother Cabrini Church, Shamokin, and a member of the Altar-Rosary Society and the Shamokin Junior Women's Club.

Theresa was active with her children in both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, and she also enjoyed playing bingo.

Surviving are two daughters, Carol A. Krajewski and her husband, Joseph, of Richmond, Va., and Claire A. Bucanelli, of Danville; two sons, John A. Bucanelli and his wife, Pamela, of Den-Mar Gardens, and Stephen M. Bucanelli and his wife, Brenda, of Shamokin; four grandchildren, Marissa Kilroy, Justin Rhoades, Aisha Bucanelli and Vinny Bucanelli; three great-grandchildren, Dylan Kilroy, Hailey Kilroy and Olivia Rhoades; two sisters, Kathleen Kelser, of Locust Gap, and Ellen Wydra, of Mount Carmel.

In addition to her parents and husband, Theresa was preceded in death by five brothers, Joseph, Hugh, Robert, John and James, and four sisters, Betty, Sister Clare Germanus, I.H.M., Stella and Nancy.


BUCANELLI — A. Theresa Bucanelli, 83, of 800 Court St., ManorCare Health Services, Sunbury, and formerly of 128 Birch St., Shamokin. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Mother Cabrini Church, 200 N. Shamokin St. at Webster Street, Shamokin, with a Mother Cabrini parish friar as celebrant. Friends are invited to call at the visitation from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday, with Christian wake service at 6 p.m., and 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. Monday at James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township. Interment will follow Mass at All Saints Cemetery, Bear Gap. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Our Lady Of Lourdes Regional School, 2001 Clinton Ave., Coal Township 17866.
