MONTOURSVILLE — Rose E. Karpinski, formerly of Bennett Street, Montoursville, entered into eternal life with our Lord Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, in Riverview, Fla., where she resided during the winter months and as a permanent resident since 2007.

She was born on May 30, in the one-time mining village of Hickory Swamp, near Shamokin. She was the daughter of Louis F. and Josephine (Anuszkiewicz) Lishewski.
Rose attended St. Anthony Parochial School, Ranshaw, and Coal Township schools.
She was married to Joseph R. Karpinski on July 1, 1950, and would have celebrated their 63rd wedding anniversary this summer.
She retired from the former Britts Department Store as a sales associate, having worked there from its opening to the closing of the store. As a homemaker, she was remembered as an accomplished cook of ethnic foods.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Montoursville, and the St. Francis Seraficki Auxiliary, Shamokin. She had an interest in local and state politics and worked as an election official in Montoursville's Third Ward for many years.
Rose will always be remembered as a caring and loving spouse, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Joseph E. and his spouse, Sue; four sisters, Angeline (Adolph) Wall, of Montoursville, Eleanor (Chester), of Augustaville, Florence (Hubert) Clifford, of Coal Township, and Mary Lishewski, of Coal Township; three granddaughters, Jennifer (Tim) Getsay, of Brentwood, Tenn., Andrea Karpinski, of Aldan, and Alexa Karpinski, of Nashville, Tenn., and two great-grandchildren, Benjamin and Katherine Getsay.
KARPINSKI — Rose E. Karpinski, formerly of Bennett Street, Montoursville, of Riverview, Fla. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Friday, Jan. 25 at St. Stephen Church, Valrico, Fla. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Montoursville, in the near future with the Rev. John Manno as celebrate. Interment will be at Mount Saint Mary's Cemetery, Emmitsburg, Md. at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are entrusted to Stowers Funeral Home, 401 W. Brandon Blvd., Brandon, Fla.
