LEWISBURG — Ernest A. Klock, 89, of Lewisburg, and formerly of Trevorton Road, passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, Lewisburg, in the presence of his loving children.

He was born in Trevorton, May 21, 1923, a son of the late William and Maude (Lesher) Klock.

He was a 1942 graduate of Trevorton High School.

Upon graduation, he entered the Civilian Conservation Corp until joining the U.S. Army. In March 1943, while serving with Company A 20th Tank Battalion Armored Division, he earned the rank of sergeant leading as a tank commander in combat in France, Belgium, Holland, Austria and Germany. Ernest served as an honor guard for Gen. George S. Patton.

Ernest was married in Zion Luthern Church, Trevorton, Nov. 30, 1946, to the former Hilda M. Bellis, who preceded him in death Sept. 8, 2006.

Ultimately, he made a career as a real estate broker and sales agent for Lutheran Brotherhood Insurance.

He served many years on church councils and organized many church activities.

He was a member of the Shamokin Lodge 255 Free and Accepted Masons, Trevorton American Legion Post 92, Trevorton Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7813, Trevorton Senior Action Center and Zerbe Township Rod and Gun Club.

Ernest was a devoted husband and father. His greatest pleasure was having family gatherings and attending his grandchildren's and great-grandchildren's activities. He enjoyed attending sporting events, traveling, reading, nature and greeting people he knew and loved during his daily activities.

Ernest is survived by two daughters, Joan Bixler and her husband, Clarence (Buddy), of Mifflinburg, and Jean Huntzinger and her husband, Craig, of Millersburg; a son, Edward Klock and his wife, Francine (Tee), of Trevorton; eight grandchildren, Reginald, Gilbert and Ronald Bixler, Jessica Vespe and her husband, William, Jennifer Wertz and her husband, Michael, Matthew Huntzinger, Lee Ann Gephart and her husband, Paul, and Edward Klock; 14 great-grandchildren; a niece, and two nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Olive Underkoffler and Violet Trythall.

KLOCK — Ernest A. Klock, 89, of Lewisburg, and formerly of Trevorton Road. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, 601 W. Market St., Trevorton. Burial will follow in Northumberland Memorial Park, Stonington. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Buffalo Valley Lutheran Village, c/o Inky Fund, 889 Fairground Road, Lewisburg 17837; or Zion Lutheran Church, c/o Memorial Fund, 601 W.
