BROOKLYN, N.Y. — Ryan R. Messmore, 33, of 65 S. 11th St., passed away unexpectedly at his home Friday, Aug. 9. 2013.

Born Dec. 23, 1979, in Danville, Pa., he was a son of Reed and Karen (Schleig) Messmore of 74 Crestview Drive, Winfield.
He was a 1998 graduate of Mount Carmel Area High School, a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory of Music-John Hopkins with a bachelors degree in recording engineering and music composition and a graduate of Portland State University with a bachelor's degree in computer science.
He worked for Motorola Solutions as a computer programmer.
As a youth, Ryan was a church organist at First Congregational Church in Mount Carmel. he was a talented musician, especially the piano, composing many pieces, including an opera.
Ryan was also an avid world traveler and mountain climber. Among his many climbs were Mount Hood, Mount Saint Helens and Mount Washington. Among his many adventures were bungee jumping in Thailand, hot air ballooning in British Columbia and visiting the Taj Mahal.
He loved to spend time with his family, especially his two nephews.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his grandparents, Ruthie and Howard Smith, of Selinsgrove, Pa., and two sisters, Missy Messmore and her son, Reed, of Selinsgrove, Pa. and Kelly and her husband, Brian Yeck, and their son, William, of Dayton, Ohio.
MESSMORE — Ryan R. Messmore, 33, of 65 S. 11th St., Brooklyn, N.Y. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Ray W. Rothermel Funeral Home, 387 W. Valley Ave., Elysburg with the Rev. Joan Brown officiating. There will be visitation with the family from 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Ryan Reid Messmore Scholarship Fund c/o Union National Bank, Mount Carmel, PA 17851.
