ELYSBURG — Erika Gwen Smith, 34, of 160 Horvath Drive, passed away while surrounded by her loving family at 7:40 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, 2013, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born in Pottsville April 15, 1979, she was a daughter of Karen (Masser) Appel, of Elysburg, and Scott D. Smith, of Lavelle.
She attended McCann School of Business.
She was employed as a clerk at Turkey Hill, Elysburg. She also worked as a housekeeper at the Wayside Inn in Weigh Scales.
She was a member of Christ Church of Leck Kill.
The love of Erika's life was her son, T.J., who survives in Elysburg. She loved spending time with him, her entire family and friends.
She was an avid country line dancer.
In addition her son, Todd Brosius Jr., Erika is survived by her mother and stepfather, Karen and Stu Appel, of Elysburg; her father, Scott D. Smith, of Lavelle; a sister, Jess Wilk and husband, Aaron, and their children, Aliyah, Teagan and Dreyton, all of Overlook; four stepsisters, Jennifer, Stevie and Cheyanne Smith, all of Ashland, and Katelyn Emory and husband, Chris, of Watsontown; a maternal grandmother, Carole Masser, of Pitman; a paternal grandmother, Nadine Smith, of Lavelle; a special aunt, Barb, of Mowry; godparents, Beth and Phil Shuey, of Hegins, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a maternal grandfather, Glenn Masser; a paternal grandfather, Edwin Smith; an uncle, John Masser, and three very special cousins, Tyrone Jr., Toni and Amanda Wehry.
SMITH — Erika Gwen Smith, 34, of 160 Horvath Drive. A religious funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at James Kelley Funeral Home, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township, with the Rev. Mark Rothermel officiating. Interment will follow the service at Jacob's Cemetery, Pitman. Family members and friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. As an expression of sympathy, the family requests memorial contributions be made to The T.J. Brosius College Fund, C/O M&T Bank, 256 S. Market St., Elysburg 17824.
