COAL TOWNSHIP — Dorothy Bendas, 92, of 1238 W. Mulberry St., passed away while in the company of family members Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at her residence.

Born in Mount Carmel Feb. 21, 1921, she was a daughter of the late Elizabeth (Butzko) and George Gondal.
Dorothy was first married to Stanley "Melookie" Slovick, who preceded her in death Jan. 27, 1961. Her second marriage was to Andrew Bendas Jr., who preceded her in death Oct. 13, 1993.
She worked as a presser at Mount Carmel Blouse, Mount Carmel.
Dorothy is survived by a son, Ronald Slovick and wife, Mary; two step daughters, Ann Zimmerman and Pauline "Tina" Cotterman; two step sons, Robert Bendas and Stephen Bendas; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and a sister, Marian Hilbert. Dorothy will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Andrew Gondal and Ernest Gondal.
BENDAS — Dorothy Bendas, 92, of 1238 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township. A religious funeral service will be at 11 a.m. held Friday at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, 100 E. Lincoln Street, Shamokin, with the Rev. Frederick Stevenson and the Rev. Richard Hazzard, deacon, officiating. Interment of her cremains will follow services in Transfiguration Ukranian Catholic Cemetery, Coal Township. There will not be a viewing or visitation. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to James Kelley Funeral Home, with Director James F. Kelley, 1001 W. Arch St. at Maple Street, Coal Township.
