Ruth Cordelia (Briemann) Colvin

Age: 83 • Craigsville

Ruth Cordelia (Briemann) Colvin, 83, widow of Rev. William "Edgar" Colvin, Sr. of 219 Sulphur Springs Road passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 at her residence.  

Mrs. Colvin was born on June 3, 1933 in Baltimore, Maryland, a daughter of the late Henry, Sr. and Ruth Rachel (Williams) Briemann.

Ruth was a faithful member of the Estaline Valley Church of the Nazarene, she was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, baking, and cooking. Mrs. Colvin will be remembered for her love and affection towards others and her willingness to witness to everyone she came in contact with about her Jesus.

In addition to her husband of 61 years, and her parents, Mrs. Colvin was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberley Ann St.Onge; a son William Edgar Colvin, Jr.; a grandson, Larry Dean Nycum and two brothers, Billy Briemann and Henry Briemann, Jr.

Surviving are two sons, Gary L. Colvin and his wife Jeanne of Craigsville and Mark K. Colvin of Staunton; a daughter, Sandra Hickman and her husband Noah of Charlotte Courthouse; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a special friend and caregiver, Fay Little and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2016 in the Estaline Valley Church of the Nazarene or other times at her residence.

A Celebration of life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 22, 2016 in the Estaline Valley Church of the Nazarene by Pastors Billy Curry and Tyler Clem.

Burial will follow in the Craigsville Community Cemetery.

Honorary pallbearers will be Norris Campbell, Phillip Byram, Larry Reid, Tommy Humphreys, Fred Sprouse, Jr., Billy Little, William Lee Wilcher, Walter Webber and other members of the church.

It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to the Estaline Valley Church of the Nazarene, 2117 Troxel Gap Road, Craigsville, VA 24430, or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the Salvation Army, 1700 West Beverley Street, Staunton, VA 24401.

Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.

I took care of Ms Colvin for a short time, but I will remember her beautiful smile and strong will for a long time. Her family is in my thoughts.

Mrs. Colvin was a beautiful person inside and out. Always had a smile on her face and a hug for someone. She will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. We all know there is a great big reunion going on in heaven. Our prayers go up for the family. We love all of you.
