Ted Jordan Obituary
Age: 66 • Ft. Defiance
Ted (Theodore) Thompson Jordan died early morning on Monday, August 8, 2016 at UVA Hospital surrounded by his wife, three sons, and two step-children.
He was born in Richmond, Virginia on March 2, 1950 to Charles W. & Ruth E. Jordan. In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Dana M. Flanders; his three sons and daughters-in-law, Benjamin R. & Laura A. Jordan, Grayson E. & Heather C. P. Jordan, and Timothy A. Jordan & Mary Kate Law; two step-children, Richard F. & Charlotte B. McPherson; and five grandchildren Violet M., Charles F. K., Thomas A. K., Andrew M. K., & Ruth R. Jordan. Ted was affectionately known by his grandchildren as "Grumpa." He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Charles W. & Linda Jordan; father-in-law and mother-in-law Bud (Dudley) D. & Martha M. Flanders; and the mother of his sons, Mary Rust.
Ted was a graduate of James Madison High School in Vienna, VA and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Virginia in 1972.
Ted was an active member of Trinity Episcopal Church serving as Jr. Warden, Sr. Warden, and a longtime participant in the music program. He was a carpenter and general contractor in the Shenandoah Valley for over 40 years. Ted took 17 mission trips to Honduras with his wife and members of Trinity to build schools and churches. He coached Little League and Babe Ruth baseball in Churchville for 20 years and spent the last 10 years growing a vineyard with his family at Mount Airy, in Fort Defiance.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 13 at 9:30 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church in Staunton, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be directed to Trinity Episcopal Church.

Dana and family,
So very sorry for your loss. I just learned about Ted's passing yesterday. I will miss seeing him pedaling down the road. Over 25 years ago we hired him to build a pottery studio over a stone root cellar. He and his partner did a great job. They were the best contractors we ever used. It is still in use by the current owners.

Dear Dana and family,
I was so saddened hearing the loss of Ted. Although I did not know him well, I taught two of his three sons when they attended Churchville Elementary. I actually knew Mary better as she participated in many of our activities. Love and prayers to you all.
