Rubie M. Wheeler(1933 - 2017)

Rubie M. Wheeler, 83, of Aberdeen & Kings Ridge in Clermont, Florida, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Mike Conley Hospice House in Clermont. Born in Colorado, reared and educated in Illinois and Missouri, she lived in St. Louis, California, Miami, Pembroke Lakes, North Hutchinson Island-Vero Beach/ Ft. Pierce. Rubie was a Marfan Syndrome patient and she leaves many friends in the United States and around the World. She was of the Catholic faith and attended Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. She had been active in Clermont's Woman's Club, Kings Ridge Women's Club, Hummingbird Circle of Clermont Garden Club, South Lake County Historical Society, Purple Sisterhood, Women for Hospice, By Invitation only, the Christian and Fellowship Women's Clubs, Friends of the Opera, Friends of the Florida Lake Symphony Orchestra, Spice Ladies of Abderdeen,, and was active for years in the Scouting programs, Humane Society and supported many charities and events. She also was a political activist in the Republican Party. She was a model, beauty contestant, Teamster, accountant and Co-Owner of small businesses. Rubie was listed in the social index directory and the social list of Florida. She was known for her love of Tea Parties, wearing hats and sending cards. She was a world traveler, an avid reader and lover of animals and music.
Rubie is survived by her loving son, Gregory and Grandson, Wade, both of Central Florida and was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Wheeler. She is also survived by her siblings: George Miller, Shirley Wizeman, Katherine Wilken, Nancy Schmeider along with many nieces, nephews and family members in Illinois, Missouri and Texas. She was also preceded in death by her parents, George & Ruth (Mock) Miller; brothers: Jimmie & Maurice Miller and a sister, Martha Williamson.
There will be no services and a private Inurnment will take place by her husband, Robert, at the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Cornerstone Hospice, 2445 Lane Park Rd., Tavares, FL 32778 or the National Marfan Foundation, 22 Manhasset Ave., Port Washington, NY 11050.
