John William Nathaniel was taken from us suddenly on Feb. 2, 2013, in Fairbanks, just three weeks short of his 76 birthday. Johnny was born Feb. 25, 1937, in Fort Yukon, to Steven and Mary Nathaniel.
John was a gentle, quiet man who had a smile for everyone and was willing to help anyone. He lived most of his life in Circle where he had concerns for his people and always had coffee on for his visitors.
Johnny is survived by his sisters, Edna and Mildred (Charlie); brothers, Larry (Ruth), Paul, Steven Jr., and Sam; aunties, Martha and Minnie (William, Sr.); cousins; nieces; nephews; and great-nieces and nephews in Circle, Fort Yukon, Fairbanks and Chalkyitsik.
Johnny is predeceased by his parents; brothers, David and Ernie; sister, Lorraine; and nephew, Richard Crow.
Services will be held, at
1 p.m. Feb. 8, 2013, in Circle at the community hall. The Rev. Mary Nathaniel, Johnny's sister-in-law, will officiate the service. A potlatch will follow at the hall.
