A memorial service will be held for Daniel Grantham, 98, of Lawton, Okla., at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home in Lawton.
Daniel passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012.
He was born Oct. 23, 1914, to Joe and Martha Grantham, in Old Pleasant Hill, La., the fourth oldest of 11 children.
He is survived by his son, Keith Grantham, and daughter-in-law, Marcy Grantham of Milton, Fla.; his daughter, Paulette Baird, and son-in-law, Richard Baird, of Lawton, Okla. His grandchildren are: Mark Grantham, and his wife, Irene, of Milton Fla.; Willie Grantham, and his wife, April, of Melbourne, Fla.; Yulonda Biddell, and her husband, Adam, of Red Rock, Ariz.; Anthony Baird and Daniel Baird, of San Francisco; and Roy Grantham, and his wife, Katie, of Fairbanks. He has 10 great-grand children: Anna Grace, Clarke, Lily, Allison, William Jr., Chelsea, Bryce, Ashley, Winston Grantham and Alexandre Biddell.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Cecile Grace Grantham, and his second wife, Carolyn Grantham; granddaughter, Joy Grantham; son, Malcolm Grantham, and seven brothers and sisters.
Daniel was a member of the Coast Guard from 1942-45, and was stationed as a cook on a cruiser in Trinidad. In 1948, he went into the Air National Guard as a cook and was with them until 1956. During that time he was stationed in Florida, Virginia, New York and Ketchikan.
He was a longtime resident of Alaska until he moved to Graham, Texas, where he resided until he moved to Lawton, Okla., where he spent the remaining years of his life.

We have such wonderful memories of Dan and Cecil and spending time with them on the homestead. We are so sorry to hear of his passing. Our condolences to Paulette, Richard, Roy and the rest of the family.
