Alice June Decker(1947 - 2014)

Alice June Decker, 66, passed away June 19, 2014 in her home in Fairbanks, with her husband, Zinn, and son, Zip, by her side. She was born Aug. 10, 1947 in Eureka, Calif. to John and Kathleen Buttram. She graduated in 1965 from Illinois Valley High School in Cave Junction, Ore.
Alice was a born-again Christian and lived her life to serve the Lord. She and Zinn enjoyed fellowship with their family and friends of McGrath Road Baptist Church. Alice was a strong witness to others and enjoyed teaching God's word in children's classes in church. She loved the Lord and always praised him, even while she was dealing with cancer and pain. She was truly one of God's angels on Earth and will sorely be missed by all who knew her. Alice enjoyed her travel to Israel in 2005 where she felt blessed to be able to walk the land that Jesus walked.
Alice always thought of others first and helped when she could, bringing a meal to someone in need or giving a call. Alice enjoyed quilting, sewing, crocheting and many other crafts. Alice enjoyed making gifts to give to others.
While going through chemotherapy, she put her heart into crocheting gifts for others that were also in treatment. Alice received her cosmetology degree and worked as a hairdresser at a few different beauty salons in Fairbanks.
Alice married Zinn C. Decker, Sr. on April 8, 1978 and dedicated her life to raising their five children. Alice enjoyed spending time with her family, whether it be clam digging, picking blueberries, camping, fishing, cutting game meat or attending holiday gatherings. Alice loved traveling with Zinn in their motorhome down to "America" while visiting numerous relatives and friends throughout the states.
Alice is survived by her husband of 36 years, Zinn C. Decker, Sr.; mother, Kathleen E. Buttram, of Selma, Ore.; brothers, Erny A. Buttram, and wife, Pat, of Selma, Ore.; John (Jack) F. Buttram, Jr. of Seward; Terry S. Buttram, of North Bend, Ore., and Mike J. Buttram, of Gardenville, N.V.; sons, Kenneth J. Gregory, and wife, Tina, of Green Valley, Ill.; Steven A. Gregory, of Green Valley, Ill.; Zinn C. Decker, Jr., and wife, Tammy, of Fairbanks; and John A. Decker, of Fairbanks. 
Her grandchildren include Kristin, Renae and Brock Gregory; Christina (Decker) Atwell, Jessica, Amanda, Brandon and Karl Kinsman; Joshua and Jeremiah Pinard; Jessica, Zinn III and Chenoa Decker.
Her great-grandchildren include Dawson, Aiden and Corbin Atwell; Aeden Kinsman and Logan Pinard. 
Alice was preceded in death by her father, World War II veteran, John F. Buttram Sr., and daughter, Lisa D. Frey.
A visitation will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25 at McGrath Road Baptist Church, with funeral services following at 2 p.m.
Burial will take place after the service at Birch Hill Cemetery.
