Andries "Andy" A. Groeneveld, 60, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away Sept. 10, 2013. Andy was born March 23, 1953, in Vancouver, Wash., and graduated from Washougal High School in 1971.
Andy was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force
in 1974, moved to Fairbanks in 1975, joined Local 375 and worked as a pipefitter until his retirement in 2005 when Andy and his wife, Yuri, moved from Anchorage to Port Charlotte to live in the warm southwestern Florida sun. Andy received his certified welding inspection license in 2007 and began a new career working as a pipeline inspector in various locations across the country and was working for Wilcrest in the West Palm Beach area upon his untimely death.
Andy will be remembered for his infectious laughter, strong personality, his constant projects around his home and easygoing demeanor. Andy was blessed with many friends and family who loved him unconditionally.
Andy and his wife, Yuri, recently had celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary in Hawaii where they renewed the reaffirmation of their love July 3, 2013, in a private sunset ceremony. This was the happiest time in their lives.
Andy's life on earth will be dearly missed.
Andy is survived by his wife, Yuri Groeneveld, of Port Charlotte, Fla,; son, Brandon, and wife, Melissa, of Kihei, Hawaii; mother, Susanna Groeneveld, of Reedsport, Ore.; sister, Cindy, and husband, Mike Fitzgerald, of Tualatin, Ore.; brothers, Ted, and wife, Ann, of Valdez; Matthew and partner, Anita Janssen, of Tracy, Calif.; and many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews from Alaska to the Netherlands.
Andy was preceded in death by his father, Hendrik Groeneveld.
A celebration of Andy's life will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013, at a reception facility located at the Rietdyk Mill Company, 512 NW Carty Road, Ridgefield, WA 98642. We welcome all to celebrate Andy's life. For more information, please contact the family at email@example.com
