Bertha "Elaine" Luke(1957 - 2013)

Our dearest beloved Bertha "Elaine" left us suddenly on Sept. 3, 2013, surrounded by her three loving children, Tammy, Samantha and Timmy, and her favorite nephew, Kerry.
Elaine was born in Fort Yukon on Dec. 28, 1957, to Jessie and Stanley Luke.
Elaine was always full of life, humor and happiness and she always shared it with everyone she knew. Her smile and laugh was contagious and will be missed by all who knew her. We will forever hold the memories she brought to us, close to our hearts. Elaine loved her job as a mother and always made sure her children had everything they needed. She was always busy and had said there was never time to sit around.
Mom loved music, singing, dancing and always had her whistle with her. Elaine believed in her strong cultural values and was there with a helping hand when the time arose. She enjoyed cooking for potlatches, and her famous potato salad will be missed. Elaine was well-known by all and had many friends throughout Alaska. One of her favorite shows was "The Price is Right" and one of her favorite pastimes was spending time with her family and friends at bingo.
She will forever be remembered by her loving partner of 30 years, Sam P. John; daughters, Tammy (Vince), Samantha (Vern), and one and only son, Timothy Gordon Wayne. She will be sorely missed by her precious grandchildren, Jesslyn, Jonah, Patrick, Kaylynn, Chief Luke, Julia, and Landon, and her godchildren, Vivian Fields, Jeremiah Alexander, Christina James, Peggy Thomas and Harlan Joseph.
Elaine was preceded in death by her mother and father, Jessie and Stanley Luke; sisters, Margaret, Marion and Annette; and brothers, Lloyd, Marvin, Paul and Gordon.
