Dalton Hoyte Shannon, 67, passed away on Dec.1, 2012, in Fairbanks, following a brief illness.
Dalton was born on March 28, 1945, in Roswell, N.M. He joined the U.S. Army
and served our country honorably in Vietnam, and was awarded the Overseas Badge.
Dalton lived in Fairbanks for 42 years, and married his wife, Lillian, in April 1983. He was employed as a Plumber/Steamfitter for Local 375.
Dalton was a Lions Club member, VFW
member and also NRA member. He was a Vietnam veteran and a very avid fisherman and hunter. Dalton loved his family and everyone he came across.
He was a very Christian, God loving man. He will be missed very much by his family and friends.
Dalton is survived by his wife, Lillian Ruth Shannon, of Fairbanks; brothers, Lloyd Dale Shannon of Elkhart, Ind., and Russell Earl Shannon of Lubbock, Texas; sister, Cynthia Evon Coleman of Lubbock, Texas; daughters. Renee Ruth Klatt of North Pole, Starr Tucker of Anchorage, Mollynae Sherpa of Lewiston, Idaho, and Charla Howard of Salem, Ore.; as well as many nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, J.B. and Pearl Shannon; and granddaughter, Sammie Lynn Dominick.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2012, at First Church of the Nazarene.
Pastor Marshall Mayfield will be officiating.
There will be a potluck following the service. Any food donations would be greatly appreciated.
