Ivy June Nelson

Ivy June Nelson "June" passed away in Missoula, Mont., July 12, 2013, after a long life of 98 years. Her beloved friend, June Clark, was by her side in their home. She had many friends in Missoula and Alaska. She had a sweet heart and was loved by all. She will be dearly missed.
Born in North Dakota, she traveled west, ending up in Alaska for many years. She lived in Fairbanks, Nome, Anchorage, Juneau and Kenai. Both June and husband Art cooked and managed restaurants all over Alaska, Seattle and Montana.
Alaska was the love of her life. She would love to tell people about her experiences in Alaska.
June owned June's Café in Missoula, Mont., in the early '70s. It is now Ruby's Café. She and Art made this a very popular establishment.
She is survived by her son, Fred Williams, daughter, Alice Thurm, and husband, Phil Thurm. She also is survived by grandson, Thad Vinson; granddaughters, Kimberly Mecham and Alicia Blansfield, and five great-grandchildren; great nieces, Gena Barney and Delayne Ziegler; and her nephew, Ralph Durante.
Her husband, Arthur Nelson, and her parents, sister, and brother all preceded her in death.

Cremation arraignments were done with Brothers Mortuary & Crematory in Hamilton, Mont.
