John Henry Thibedeau(1953)

John Henry Thibedeau, 59, died Nov. 26, 2012, at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital. He was born Sept. 15, 1953, in Fairbanks, to Richard and Ruth Thibedeau.
John was an avid reader and loved movies. He lived his own real-life adventures as he traveled throughout the United States. He was resourceful and lived outdoors for much of his adult life.
John grew up making many friends in Fairbanks and was known for his ability to put bicycle parts together. He continued to take things apart and reassemble. Relatives recall how helpful he would be when building an addition or helping with a project.
While living in Washington state, John worked at the Chief Seattle Club serving the homeless of the area. He would express appreciation to volunteers through the years who would offer a meal or a place to stay.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Gail Kokrine, Audrey Totaro and Maxine Thibedeau; brothers Marvin Kokrine and James Thibedeau; niece Shawneen Thibedeau; and nephew Benjamin Thibedeau.
He is survived by siblings, Charlotte (Jay) Broussard, Richard (Faye) Thibedeau, Fred Thibedeau, Jane Cosgrove, Rick Thibedeau, Beverly Sourapas and Don Thibedeau; many nieces and nephews; aunt Lydia (Betty) Depew; and a large extended family.
A funeral will be held at
5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29, 2012, at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. A potluck reception will follow in the parish hall. A graveside memorial will be held in summer 2013.
Arrangements were entrusted to Chapel of the Chimes Funeral Home.
