Kedrick Jones Wallis

Kedrick Jones Wallis, 67, of Two Rivers, and formerly of Marshall, Ark., let go the cares of this world and passed gracefully into the arms of his Savior on the morning of Dec. 17, 2012.
Even as a young boy from Arkansas, Kedrick had longed to see the white-capped peaks of the Last Frontier. Kedrick and his late-wife, Estelle Wallis, realized that dream in the early 1980s.
Living the rustic cabin life, building basket sleds for his dog team, hunting Alaska big game and founding a successful business - Pleasant Valley Equipment - in Two Rivers; Kedrick fulfilled almost every aspect of his own unique Alaska dream.
A kind and gentle soul, Kedrick built a "family" within his community of Pleasant Valley that extended well beyond the boundaries of his immediate relations.
Kedrick was preceded in death by his wife, Estelle; and earlier by his parents, Charlie and Lula Wallis; and brothers, Knoful Wallis, Connie Wallis and Wendell Wallis, all of Marshall, Ark. Kedrick is survived by his children, William Wallis, Paul Wallis, Angel Wallis, of Anchorage, Martin Cook, of Two Rivers, Jerry Cook, of North Pole, Pamela Witt, of Dadeville, Mo., his special friend, Cathy Turinsky; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Kedrick was buried at the Two Rivers Cemetery on Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012. A memorial is planned for noon, Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013 (Kedrick's birthday), at the Two Rivers Community Center.
