Kenneth "Gene" Easton

Kenneth "Gene" Eugene Easton Sr., 79, a resident of the Forest Grove, Ore., community, died Monday morning June 17, 2013, at Providence St. Vincent Medical Center in Portland.
Ken was born on Dec. 5, 1933, in McLeansboro, Ill. He was one of four children born to Kenneth Edwin and Opal (Sidfrids) Easton. He was raised in McLeansboro and moved to Venice, Calif., as a teenager. He attended Venice High School, graduating with the class of 1950.
He met his future wife, Patricia Greschke, while at a company picnic. They began dating, and following a four-year courtship, they were married on April 24, 1955. Following their marriage, they made their home in Garden Grove, Calif., and then in 1972 they moved to North Pole. In 1997, they settled in Forest Grove, Ore., where they have lived since.
Ken had worked for the City of Fairbanks for more than 25 years as a power plant employee, retiring in 1986.
He enjoyed woodworking, flying model airplanes and collecting maritime model ships. He loved old cars and enjoyed working on them.
He is preceded in death by his parents and a son, Shaun Easton.
He is survived by his loving wife, four children, and their spouses: David and Wendee Easton, of Fairbanks; Kenneth Jr. and Angela Easton, of Forest Grove, Ore.; Michael Easton, of North Pole; Sydney and Glenn Howell, of Forest Grove, Ore.; three siblings, Bud Easton, of California; Rita Young, of Bend, Ore.; and Charles Easton, of Forest Grove, Ore.; 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
