Sharon M Isaacson(1959 - 2013)

Sharon M. Isaacson, 53, passed away unexpectedly at her North Pole home on Sunday, March 3, 2013.

She was born Sept. 29, 1959, to Walter and Gisela Frothingham, at Lanstuhl Army Hospital in Germany.

Her father was career Air Force, and she moved with her family to numerous locations before they settled in Summerville, S.C. Sharon graduated from high school in 1977, and attended Trident Technical College where she earned her associates degree in marketing.  During this time, she met and married Desmond Isaacson in June 1980. In September 1985 she gave birth to their son, Steven.

The family arrived in Alaska in October 1996, because of an Air Force assignment. Once in Alaska, she knew this was where she wanted to be and made it her home.

Thoroughly enjoying the outdoors, Sharon spent several years skijoring, cross country skiing and running. One of her greatest feats was completing the grueling Equinox Marathon.

Her ultimate joy was working in her garden, and with hard work and deep study she was able to transition her yard on Brock Road into a delightful array of numerous Interior Alaska perennials that passersby often stopped and commented on.

Most recently she was a valued employee of Home Depot where she flourished and made numerous friends.

Sharon is survived by her son, Steven and his wife, Tina; their three children, Sonny, Brock and Starla; her mother, Gisela; her brother, Walter, both of Summerville, S.C.; his sister, Sylvia Christiansen, and her daughters, Lauren and Kaitlyn, all in Deland, Fla.

She was preceded in death by her father, Walter.

At this time, there are no plans for a memorial service.

Arrangements were entrusted to Chapel of Chimes Funeral Home.
