Susan Diane Carpentino, 60, from North Pole, passed away of natural causes April 22, 2014, in St. George, Utah.
Born in Sacramento, California, to Richard and Alberta Gent on Dec. 9, 1953, Susan later moved with her family to North Pole and was raised there with her three sisters, Mary, Sandy and Patty.
She married James F. Carpentino on Dec. 19, 1973, and had her first of four children, Chris, just 9 months later. She had Theresa and James in '77 and Michael in '79. Susan was busy volunteering in their many activities and sports. She also loved to read, camp, fish and help others as often as she could.
After working many years at the post office, Susan went back to school to further her education with her joy of learning. In 1998 she earned two associates degrees and achieved National Honor Society recognition.
Susan is survived by her husband, James "Jim" Carpentino; children, Christopher, Theresa McGrath, James and Michael Carpentino; grandchildren, Alexis Bisso, Wyatt, April and Kaylee McGrath and Shelley Carpentino; her father, Richard Gent; and sisters, Mary O'Neal, Sandy Carrigan and Patricia Gent.
She was predeceased by her mother, Alberta Gent, and nephews, Dennis O'Neal and Barry Powers.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. June 28 at the North Pole VFW
