Genevieve Alexander Obituary

Genevieve Alexander passed away in her sleep at home in Two Rivers on Oct. 13, 2010, after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer at age 92.
She was born Oct. 9, 1918, in Snowshoe, Pa., to Ralph and Lula Mae Etters. She was one of nine brothers and sisters.
Genevieve married Walter Alexander in Williamsport, Pa., and had three sons - Walter, Tom and Dennis. She also cared for numerous foster children.
In Pennsylvania, Genevieve was involved with the church. She was a deaconess, Sunday school teacher, and president/member of the Ladies Aide. Her fondest memories were the times she spent at the Sylvan Hill Church Camp. Every year she volunteered as the director, counselor or cook for 100 children.
She moved to Alaska to be closer to family, and settled in the Two Rivers community in November 2004. There she quickly took root and became the adopted "Gram" to most of the residents. She kept busy making quilts, pillows and sock monkeys, but was best known for the pies that she loved to bake, and became known as the "Pie Lady."
She is survived by two of her sons, Walter and Dennis; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Two Rivers Community Church of the Nazarene, 15 Mile Chena Hot Springs Road, with Pastor Wayne Shea officiating.
Arrangements were entrusted to Chapel of Chimes Funeral Home.

It was an honor to meet the Family and "Gram" herself, May the good Lord rest her gentle and caring soul and keep her for eternal rest. My prayers and support are with Becky and Alex as they head home to lay her to rest. Again, what an a honor it was to have meet Gram and her family and friends. In love and Christ, Peter Captain, Jr.
