Karen Dianne (Gibson) Christensen Obituary
Karen Dianne (Gibson) Christensen, age 74, of Tucson, Ariz., passed away March 12, 2014. Karen was born on May 22, 1939, in Flint, Mich., the daughter of Lewis and Anne (Fyfe) Gibson. She graduated from high school in Fairbanks.
Karen spent her professional career as a licensed real estate broker in Alaska where she served two terms as a real estate commissioner. She then went on to be licensed in the states of Arizona and California as well.
In 1987, she met the love of her life and soul mate, Robert (Bob) Christensen. Karen and Bob were united in marriage on March 27, 1992, in Concord, Calif. In 2001, Karen and Bob retired to Tucson, Ariz. Karen remained active in her retirement. She enjoyed cooking, golf, painting gourds, reading, card and board games, volunteering for the Rally For The Cure Golfing Tournament, and working part-time for the SaddleBrooke Golf Courses.
Karen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She took great care in nurturing her family and friendships. She had a great sense of humor and infectious smile. Karen was loved by many and her memory will live on in each of the lives she touched.
She is survived by her loving husband, Robert (Bob) Christensen; her children, son Joe (Jeanneth) Morris, of Las Vegas, Nev.; son, Dan Morris, of St. Petersburg, Fla.; son, Dave (Farah) Morris, of Fairbanks; daughter, Jill Johnson, of Alexandria, Minn.; grandchildren, Dylan, Sarah, Heather, Kyle, Ryan, Aaron and Nathan; stepmother, Mary Gibson Call, of Hernando, Fla.; sister, Gail Stack, of Green Valley, Ariz.; brother, Mike (Susan) Gibson, of North Pole; sister-in-law, Connie Gibson Thomas, of Yuma, Ariz.; nephews, James, Lew, Mark and Michael; sister-in-laws Margo Mullins, of Riverbank, Calif., Tricia Friedrich, of Tucson, Ariz., DiAne (Walt) Fischer, of Colorado Springs, Colo., brother-in-law Lou (Taffy) Christensen and nephew Lou (Denise) Christensen, of Tucson, Ariz.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis and Anne; and niece, Kelly Gibson.
A special thank you to family and friends that came to be by Karen's side and to the cardiac care team at The University of Arizona Medical Center that cared for Karen. We will be forever grateful for their support and caring of Karen.
