Longtime Fairbanksan, Lester Alan Mitchell, 61, unexpectedly passed away on June 25, 201, in Fairbanks. He was born on Nov. 27, 1952, in Santa Monica, California, and moved to Alaska in 1972. He has lived in Anchorage, Chatanika and Fairbanks.

He worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years and was an Elks Club member. Les touched the lives of many in a positive way. He loved his family and friends immensely. He loved Alaska, golfing, his Cherokee heritage and his country with all his heart. He had a wonderful sense of humor and laughter.
Les is survived by his daughter, Jesse Rose Manney, and granddaughter, Isabella McConnell, of Smithers, British Columbia; his sister, Janis Sorenson, and brother-in-law, Noel Sorenson, of Talkeetna; nephew, Tony Moline, of Anchorage; nephew, Leon Moline, and his wife, Brandie Moline, and their children, Jacob and Savannah, all of Anchorage; his sister, Susan Van Dorp, of North Pole; brother-in-law, Matthew Van Dorpp, of North Pole; niece, Amanda Graham, of Fairbanks; nephew, Geron Graham, and his wife, Emily Graham, and children, Aiden and June Graham, all of North Pole.
Les is predeceased by his parents, Jacob and Alma Mitchell; his brother, Gary Mitchell, and his nephew, Michael Moline.
