Michael B. Marley Obituary
Michael Burnell Marley, 69, of Fairbanks, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013, at his home.
Michael was born July 9, 1943, in Longreach, Queensland, Australia, to JB and Sybil Marley. Michael's family moved to California when he was young. After graduating high school, Michael served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy. He was stationed in Long Beach, Calif. After his discharge, Michael moved to Alaska in 1969.
He was a building contractor and framed many houses and buildings all across the Fairbanks area. He enjoyed riding his Harley with good friends and brother, Jim. He loved his politics and was a proud member of the NRA and VFW. His family said, "Michael really enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially at Quartz Lake with his grandchildren. His sense of humor and kindness will truly be missed."
Michael is survived by his sister, Sharon Marley, of N.Y.; son, Steve Marley, of Alaska; son, Matt Marley, of Pa.; daughter, Stacy Ferkitich, of Alaska; grandchildren, Kendra McGinnis, of Ohio; Nea Marley, of Alaska; Seth Marley, of Alaska; Anthony Marley, of Alaska; Autum Marley, of Alaska; Sara Young, of Ariz.; Amanda Wyma, of Ariz.; and Justin Ferkitich, of Ariz.; great-grandchildren; Lily Gerlinger, of Alaska; and Zylie McGinnis, of Ohio; and many relatives in Australia.
Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Sybil and JB Marley; and brothers, Charlie, Tony and Jim Marley. 
A gathering will take place from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at VFW Post 3629, 324 Second Street.
A celebration of life with military honors will follow at 6 p.m. and will be officiated by George Ison. Michael was a proud supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project and would have liked to have donations be made to their cause at wounded warriorproject.org or call
