Cecelia Joyce Paul, Yupi'k Eskimo, born Feb. 7, 1977, in Pilot Station, passed away on Jan. 10, 2013, in Waimanalo, Hawaii.|
Cecelia was laid to rest on beds of orchids and sent to be with our Heavenly Father on Jan. 19, 2013, at Waimanalo Beach, Hawaii.
She was preceded in death by her two daughters, Sabrina and Lakisha; her mother, Elena Paul; and brother, Andrew Evan.
Cece is survived by her loving family; brothers, Leonard Paul, Johnny and Phoebe Paul; her mother of 27 years, Margaret Jennings; and brother David, of Huffman, Texas; and sisters, Olinga Nook, Glenda Paul-Nook; aunts, Virginia, Nastasia and Matrona; and uncle, Joe Klukluk; all from the villages of Russian Mission, Pilot Station, Lower and Upper Kalskag.
Cecelia enjoyed life. Her smile was infectious and made her special and dear to all whose paths she crossed. Her life in Pilot Station, Russion Mission, Bethel, and Anchorage was full of those of us loving her.
Special Olympics swimming was one of her pleasures in Anchorage. In Texas she continued to assist with her brother, Leonard, becoming a volunteer with Special Olympics. Cecelia worked full time in Humble, Texas, where she made her home with Daniel, father of her daughters, Sabrina and Lakisha.
Moving to Fairbanks was a marked change for Cecelia. She met special friends and made a life with Mike before moving to Hawaii. She loved the warmth, beautiful beaches and friends of the Island. She was happy and kept in touch with all of us across the pond. We miss her.
There will be a funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at the Immaculate Conception Church, 115 N. Cushman St., officiated by Fr. Fred Baylor and concelebrated by Fr. Scott Fisher. A reception will be held downstairs in the Soup Kitchen following the Mass. All are invited to come and share your memories of Cece.
