Charles "Chuck" Irving Goff, Jr. "…slipped the surly bonds of earth…" and passed away peacefully in his sleep, Nov. 4, 2012, just eight days short of his 77th birthday.
Chuck was born in Providence, R.I., to Charles I. Goff and Alice T. Downes.
After serving in the U.S. Navy, Chuck attended and graduated in 1962, from the University of Rhode Island with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
Moving to Alaska in 1967, Chuck became a true pioneer, clearing his land to build a home for his family. He was active in the Black Powder organization and a lifetime member of the NRA. His final years were spent as he wished in his cabin, surrounded by family, his books and beloved cats.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Julia, and brother, Joel.
He is survived by his remaining siblings, Jeanne Lowe and Dee Young.
Also surviving Chuck is his present wife, Cheryl Goff; children, Charlaine Williams, Elizabeth (Mike) Kendall, Jayson Goff, Patrick Goff; grandchildren, Allie, Austin, Brandi, Blake, and Lily; ex-wives, Martha Gephardt and Kathy Villeneuve; extended family, Wendy Cloyd (Carli, Candra, Matthew, and James) and Raoul Chapman (Cassandra and Melody).
A celebration of his life will be held at the family homestead at 3 p.m. Nov. 25, 2012. For information, please call, 488-5027.
