Diane Joyce Ystenes, 61, of Fairbanks, went to be with the Lord July 21, 2012, at the Denali Care Center.|
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Friday, July 27, 2012, at Fairbanks Funeral Home, 3704 Erickson, Ave., with Pastor Karen Ellison officiating.
Diane was born March 26, 1951, in Minneapolis, Minn., to Vernon and Joyce Krepela.
It was there she met and married the love of her life, Lloyd "T-Bone" Ystenes, with whom she had two children, David and Kari. They went on to make homes in Fargo, N.D., Ulen, Minn., and Twin Valley, Minn., until finally settling in Fairbanks in 1985.
Diane worked in customer service her whole life working her last 10 years at Fred Meyer, mostly at the U-Scan where she met and befriended many.
Diane's greatest joy was her family. Truly she was a devoted wife and inspirational mother. Her will to live was obvious in that she defied the odds and lived much longer than ever expected.
After T-Bone's passing in 2010, she just "wanted to be with my kids" as she stated often.
She had a great sense of humor. She was so caring and always worried about everyone's feelings. She was an amazing person who will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Ystenes; father, Vernon Krepela; and brother, Larry Krepela.
Diane is survived by her son, David Ystenes, and his daughter, Hope; daughter, Kari (Robert) Austin; mother Joyce Krepela; brothers, Scott (Geri) Krepela, Mark (Vickie) Krepela; sisters, Cindy (Frank) Krepela-Gargulak, Becky (Andy) Fix; and two furry grandbabies, Bella and Sissy.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fairbanks Funeral Home.
