D’Von Lee Thronsen Obituary
On June 8, 2013, D'Von Lee Thronsen, at 8 years of age, left this world to join the Lord in heaven. Born Jan. 5, 2005, D'Von stole our hearts with his bright eyes and handsome smile.
Like most children his age, D'Von loved to ride his bike around the neighborhood and play with his brother and cousins. He loved to joke around; his laughter was contagious and would have anyone near laughing with him.
He could often be caught playing video and board games, but it was D'Von's passion for Legos that will always be remembered. He could take any Lego set, sit down and start building, refusing to quit until it was finished.
He was quick to tell you he loved you, and grew to have wisdom beyond his years. He often would remind the rest of us, through both words and actions, that the minuscule things in life were not what was most important. What was important was love and family. D'Von would often attend Fairbanks Native Chapel with his great-grandfather, George Pearson.
D'von had been diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma in May 2011. He faced his treatments with courage at Anchorage Providence, attending Lake Otis Elementary while staying there. In March 2012, D'Von had finished his treatments and was able to come home to North Pole and return to Ticasuk Brown Elementary, where we were blessed with just more than a year to laugh, learn and enjoy our time with him; time that we will always cherish in our hearts.
D'Von will be loved and missed by his parents, Samantha Pearson and David Lee Thronsen; brother, D'Landis Thronsen; great-grandparents, George and Linda Pearson; grandparents, Amanda Roberts, Kathy and Kevin Cochrane, Carleen Thronsen, and Robert Thronsen; aunts and uncles, Dwayne Pearson and Melissa Pearson, Marcus Follett, Brittany Roberts, Brandon Roberts, Shaylyn Nathaniel, Rose and Dale Brewer, Jenny and Ron Wailes, Kim Nelson, Richard Charley, Stan and Louise Holmberg, Dennis and Mary Edwin, Debbie and Roy Ewan, Doris and David Solomon, Judy and Aaron Stearman, Niki and Larry Guthrie, Herbie Edwin, Eugene Edwin, Audrey Bonacci, Connie Mayo, Scott Summer, Krystal Edwin, Mellisa Quandiaz, and Shavon Greenway; numerous cousins, classmates at both Lake Otis Elementary and Ticasuk Brown, nurses, doctors, and staff at Providence, and many other friends he made in his short life.
He is preceded in death by great-great-grandparents, Justin and Anne Edwin, Edgar and Abbie Joseph, Louise Holth, George Pearson Sr. and Irene Pearson, Marcella Nagy, Jimmy and Mary Henry and Peter Charlie; great-grandparents, Jason and Mae Edwin, Laura and Earl Thronsen, Laura and Bill Suiter; aunts and uncles, Sharon Carlo, Jonny Thronsen, Robin Suiter, Jasper Charley, Evelyn Emry, Alice Charley, and Rosevelt Charley; cousin, Jasmin Rose Ewan and guardian angel, Mara Edwin.
Visitation was held Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Chief David Salmon Tribal Hall and services followed. Officiated by Tim Calhoun. There was a non-traditional potlatch on Saturday at the tribal hall.
