Our dear loved one, Gordon Allen Miller, has returned to his Heavenly Father at sunrise May 5, 2012, surrounded by his beloved wife and children at home in Anchorage, where he wanted to be.
The Guest Book is expired.
A former Fairbanks resident, Gordy was a hard working man, loyal, compassionate, dedicated and very giving. He loved his family and friends dearly.
He lived on an orchard in Wenatchee, Wash., as a boy. He graduated from University of Puget Sound and then started his long career of 32 years with the JC Penney Co. After retiring from there, he wasn't ready to slow down yet and became human resource director for Denali Alaskan FCU. He also was a retired Lt. Colonel in the U.S. Army Reserves where he was instrumental in starting the 1984th USAH in Alaska.
He loved the outdoors and going RVing with his wife and dogs. He had a passion for photography, gardening, motorcycles and pageant coaching. He was active in the community in Fairbanks, in the Kiwanis club and as cubmaster of Pack 78.
Gordy is survived by his wife, Janet Donnelly of Anchorage; daughter, Evelyn Lucia of Athol, N.Y.; son, Wayne Miller of Fairbanks; and several grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the
, Kidney Association or Providence Hospice.
