James Wells Obituary
Our beloved husband, father and friend, James Wells, of Fort Yukon, passed away Oct. 6, 2012, at his home, completing his life's journey to go home to the Lord. He was surrounded by his loving and caring family.
Jim was born June 8,1931, in Fort Yukon, and remained a life-long resident.
He worked in many capacities and excelled in mechanics. He served as a police officer in Fort Yukon, getting his training at the Alaska State Trooper Academy in Sitka. He also worked at NC Machinery getting his training in California. Jim worked at the Power Plant at the Air Force site in Fort Yukon until his retirement, but he continued his work at the GZ Utilities for a few more years.
Jim enjoyed his trips on the river with his family on the "house boat" he built himself.
He will forever be remembered by his loving wife, Linda; sons, Gerald and Mike; daughters, Carol, Vera and Mei; stepdaughter, Maggie; stepson, Robert; sister, Betty; and his grandchildren and great-grandchild, as well as the many friends and relatives who were blessed to have known him. He has touched many lives with his sense of humor, honesty and stories.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth; father, Curtis; brothers, Art, Harold, James and Grafton; sisters, Madeline and Doris; and his first wife, Ellen.
The community members, friends and family are invited to celebrate his life with food and fellowship at the Addie Shewfelt Building in Fort Yukon beginning today through Thursday.
Services will be held at
1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, 2012, in the St. Stephen's Church at Fort Yukon, followed by a potlatch at the Addie Shewfelt Building.
