Keith Olson Obituary
A life tribute was held Monday, April 18, at Fairbanks Funeral Home with military honors performed by the Alaska Army Honor Guard. A reception followed.
Keith was born May 2, 1943, to Elmer Edwin and Shirley Addlynn (Swan) Olson in Denver. He graduated from Castle Rock High School in Castle Rock, Colo. He entered the U.S. Army and served four years and was honorably discharged.
Keith moved to Fairbanks in 1973 where he worked for Swan Drilling until 2004. He also worked for Chris Johnson in warehousing and expediting for Tech Line from 2005 until his passing. Keith enjoyed spending time with his family at his cabin on the Goodpaster River.
"I will miss Dad very much, he was the best dad anyone could have had, I love him. Keith had several friends and will be missed greatly by all who knew him," wrote the family.
Keith was preceded in death by his father, Elmer Olson; grandparents, Roxie and Lynn Swan; cousin, Bill Swan; and uncle, James "Bud" Swan.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Maria Olson of Fairbanks; daughter, Diana Pierce and son-in-law, Tim Pierce; son, David Olson; grandchildren, Justin Pierce, Brandon and Brett Olson and Maritza Olson; mother, Shirley Olson; sister Donna Kendrick and brother-in-law and good friend Kent Kendrick; niece, Sheila Rodgers and her husband Bo; great-niece, Shayla; Ken Sheets and wife Joann of New Mexico; Shirley Jackson and her husband, Marty of California; Jeanette Swan and family; several other cousins; sister in-law, Anne and Herbert and Elvira of Germany; mother-in-law, Anna Kullmann of Germany; close friends, Trudy Buchanan, Dawn Smith and her daughter, Lisa, and many other friends.
Our thanks to the Fairbanks Cancer Treatment Center and staff and the Dialysis Center for the great care that was provided.
Memorial contributions can be made in Keith's memory to the Fairbanks Cancer Treatment Center, 1950 Cowles St., Fairbanks, AK 99701 or the Fairbanks Dialysis Center, 1863 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99701.
Arrangements were entrusted to Fairbanks Funeral Home & Crematory.

A note of condolences to the family and friends of Keith Olson. A very old acquaintance from his old home town, Castle Rock, Co. My father , Bud Phelps and Keith's father were friends in a very small town at one time. There are many memories surrounding some of the older ones that are left which I am one of. An honor to have been acquainted with the Olsen family.
