Our beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother, Margaret Sam Tritt, was called to the Lord at 3:40 a.m. Dec. 16, 2012. Margaret was born Sept. 6, 1933, between Venetie and Arctic Village.
She was a cook at Arctic Village School for 15 years. She enjoyed sharing her language and culture, teaching at schools in Arctic Village, Venetie, Fairbanks and Howard Luke culture camp. She was married to Allen "Allo" Tritt for 58 years.
She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Sam; parents, Moses and Jenny Sam; brothers, Neil Sam, Sam Sam, Timothy Sam, Moses Sam Jr.; sisters, Rose Sam Lee (Steve), Sara Hopson, Lily Fickus (Bill); nephew, Little Moe III; and niece Linda Fickus.
She is survived by husband, Allen Tritt; sister, Elizabeth Martinez; adopted sister, Hannah Solomon (Jonathan); brother, Edward Sam; daughters, Donna Nicholson (Speed), Mary Groat (Todd), Deena Tritt, Martha Folden (Bryan), Brenda Gilbert (Gregory), Audrey Tritt, Julie Hollandsworth (Jim); and son, James Allen Tritt; grandchildren, Shawntell Nicholson, Jason Nicholson, Serena Faye Baker (Mike), Sheena Edna Tanner (Mike), Donetta Margaret Tritt, Tiffany Yatlin (George), Allison Panigeo, Samuel Johns, Sophia Johns, Dawnn Johns, Virgil Gilbert, Cynthia Gilbert, Galen Gilbert, Belinda Gilbert, Daniel Bryan Tritt, Donald Jonathan Timothy Tritt, Karlos Norman, Melissa Norman, Amanda Rose Tritt, Brittany Marie Hollandsworth, Katelyn Hollandsworth, Tia Hollandsworth, Leah Hollandsworth, and Autumn Hollandsworth; godchildren, Jamie Frank, Arthur Titus, Doreen Nikolai, and Becky Saylor; 20 great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at Saint Matthew's Episcopal Church in Fairbanks, and on Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, in Arctic Village.
