Former Fairbanksan, Marion Brand, 85, died peacefully in her sleep on Nov. 1, 2012.
Marion's family, including her sisters, daughters, nieces, nephews and grandson, are gathering together to honor her memory over the Thanksgiving holiday in Marysville, Wash.
Marion was born Oct. 24, 1927, in Auburn, N.Y., and moved with her former husband to Fairbanks in the early 1950s.
She raised her three girls in Fairbanks and worked alongside her then- husband to build a family owned and operated lumberyard. She invested herself in her community and was an active member of numerous organizations including the College Women's Club and the Golden North Rebekah Lodge. She took pride in being a hard worker and enjoyed her work at GVEA, Bonner Electric and the Tanana Valley Clinic. Marion was an avid bridge player; forming lifelong, treasured friendships with wonderful women who shared her love of the game.
In 2004, Marion moved to Marysville, Wash., where until her recent illness, she lived with her daughters and grandson in a busy, multi-generational household. She was a very special person who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her loving daughters, Denise Brand of Fairbanks, Leslie Brand, Lisa Brand and her much adored grandson, Matthew Brand, all of Marysville, Wash.
The family suggests donations be made in Marion's memory to the
