Longtime resident Patricia Morgan (Adarns-Barchasch) passed suddenly of heart failure at Swedish Hospital in Seattle on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013.
Patty is survived by her son, John Barchasch; daughters, Lisa O'Brien and Lori Willis; granddaughters, Amber Matthews and Janette Barchasch; her brother, Robert Cowgill; two nieces, Rachael and Elizabeth Cowgill; her sister, Elizabeth Roggenbuck; and her joy of joys, Daisy the dog.
Patty is preceded in death by her mother, Janet Cowgill; her step-father, Robert Cowgill; her biological father, Foster "Speck" Adams; her husband, Jack Morgan; her ex-husband, Leon Barchasch; and her grandson, Craig Willis.
Patty was born in Detroit on July 13, 1941. She moved and lived with maternal grandmother, Roxie Cadle, in Harrogate, Tenn., until she was 8 years old. At age 8, Patty moved to Fairbanks with her mother, Janet Cowgill, and step-father, Robert Cowgill, and later joined by her baby brother, Robert Cowgill Jr. She attended Denali Elementary, Main Jr. High and Lathrop High. From there, she attended beauty school in Anchorage.
Patty resided in the Alaska communities of Seward, Coldfoot and Fox where she had many memorable adventures with her loved ones. She loved Alaska and enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, boating and family get-togethers. Patty had many friends and acquaintances who all adored her quick wit and friendly outgoing personality.
In 2003, Patty moved to Sequim, Wash., to assist her mother in her remaining years.
A memorial service will be held for Patty from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, at Evergreen Washelli in Bothell, Wash. There also will be a celebration of life party in summer 2014, when her ashes will be spread in the Chena River per her request.
