Robert H. Dempsey, 75, of Fairbanks, died Aug. 26, 2013, at Denali Care Center, surrounded by his loving family.|
Robert was born Feb. 3, 1938, in Hoboken, N.J., to the late Matthew and Margaret Dempsey. Robert was a veteran and served in the U.S. Navy. He married the love of his life on Aug. 8, 1959, in Hoboken, N.J., the late Betty Dempsey.
The Dempsey family would like for you to help celebrate Robert's life at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at Pioneer Park, square dance pavilion. Help us celebrate the man affectionately referred to as the Hot Dog man, with his cart on First Avenue since 1997, a host at the Golden Days celebrations, a Chamber of Commerce member, Lions Club member, loving father and adoring grandfather.
The family would like to thank Denali Center, 2 South Staff of Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, Dr. Blais, and the staff at St. Elias Specialty Hospital for all of their love and care.
Robert is survived by his five children, Robert Scott (Stacy) Dempsey, of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; Theresa L. (John) Salzman, John C. Dempsey, Lysbeth A. Dempsey and Michele J. (Dennis) Atkins, all of Fairbanks; honorary son, Bill (Kim) Dennis, of Anchorage; and daughter-in-law, Kim Dempsey. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, James, Josh, Richard, Kiska, Matthew, Michael, Dempsey, Tessa, Madison, Rayvan and Jonnie; one great-grandchild, Abigail; sisters, Kathleen (Dave) Ure and Judith Ann Ortleib; and sister-in-law, Sr. Patricia Mayer, all of New Jersey.
In addition to his wife and parents, Robert was preceded in death by his grandson, Brandon Alexis Dennett.
