Frank "Alan" Curtis passed away unexpectedly in the early morning of Saturday, March 29, 2014. Alan was born Aug. 29, 1938, in California.
The Guest Book is expired.
Alan lived in Fairbanks in a Fairbanks Resource Agency residence with three housemates since December 1992. Before living in FRA's residences, Alan resided at Denali Center. He relocated to Fairbanks from Harborview Developmental Center in Valdez, where he had resided for approximately 10 years. Alan lived with his parents until his admission to Harborview.
On a typical day, Alan would get up in the morning, attend work at Fairbanks Resource Agency, attend FRA's Discovery Center Day Habilitation Program then return home for lunch and an afternoon nap. Alan was a creature of habit and liked his daily routine. He liked socializing with his housemates, sitting in his favorite recliner in his living room and watching television. He loved Country Music Television, old westerns and animal shows. Alan loved watching nature shows that afforded him the opportunity to watch animals.
Alan enjoyed going to Creamer's Field in the spring and fall to watch the cranes and Canada geese. Once in a while, he would enjoy watching a comedy on the television. He truly enjoyed receiving massages every week from his massage therapist, Kristin. Alan enjoyed going on picnics, going to the movie theater, and attending local hockey games and the local fair. He loved eating at Mayflower Buffet and Boston's Pizza where he could have an occasional O'Doul's.
Alan traveled back to his birth place, California, and to Hawaii in his lifetime. He seemed to enjoy these trips very much. Alan loved cars, including sports cars and vintage cars. He loved to look through pages of books with pictures of cars.
Alan will truly be missed by many people who loved being around his smile and good nature.
