Daniel K. Lushin Obituary
On June 20, 2014, Daniel K. Lushin passed away at Fairbanks Memorial Hospital, in Fairbanks. He was comforted by his wife, Charlette Lushin. Dan was 69 years old.
Dan was born on April 9, 1945, in Kokomo, Indiana, the youngest of five siblings, to Paul Kosta and Mary Lushin. Dan has five children, Rick, Scott, James, Carson, MarCia, and Theresa Lynn (deceased). He was the youngest brother to Francis Ruth, Jean Paul, Stephen and Diane.
Dan was adventurous, kind, calming, loving and would give the shirt off his back if asked. His hobbies included painting, fishing, pool, gold mining and animal sighting. An avid jokester, Dan always was making jokes and improving the spirits of those around him. His soothing words of positivity could coach many through difficult challenges.
Dan moved to Alaska in the early '70s and was part of the original work crews that built the Tanana River Pipeline Suspension Bridge, for the trans-Alaska oil pipeline in Big Delta. Dan's professional passion was centered around the Alaska pipeline's many pump stations, through Laborers Local 942. For fun, he prospected gold, and held mining endeavors.
Being semi-retired, Dan entered the health and safety field, and achieved various certifications to do so. Dan was a 33 degree Freemason and participated in the chapter's charitable events.
Dan was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Dan is survived by his siblings; wife, Charlette; children and grandchildren.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2 Doyon Place, in Fairbanks.
