Roman Retynski

Obituary Condolences

Roman Retynski, 34, left to be in the arms of our Lord on Wednesday, June 10, 2009.

Roman was born Aug. 28, 1974, in Fairbanks and was raised in Two Rivers.

He attended North Pole High School and Lighthouse Christian Academy and had attended the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

He was the eldest son and brother and was always there for his family and friends in so many ways.

He was a master electrician by trade. He loved the outdoors, especially snowmachining, fishing and boating. He was on his way to the family cabin on Chena Hot Springs Road at the time of his accident.

Roman was such an outgoing, positive person. He lit up a room with his presence.

Roman recently found new life and embraced it with every cell of his body. His enthusiasm for life touched so many. He was so proud of his new life that it was contagious and felt by all who knew him well. He will be so dearly missed.

He now rides the winds. Roman was named after the Book of Romans and 8:28 (his birthdate) was Roman's testimony.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Retynski, who died in April.

He leaves behind his daughter, Ashlyn; mother, Ruth; brothers and sisters-in-law and their children, Jesse and Roxane, and their children, Ryan and Kailin; Levi; Matt and Laura and their sons, Dawson and Alex; Ben and Anastasia and son, Gavin; stepfather, Jim Fenwick; and his special "brothers," Craig and John; and his German shepherd, Kono.

To celebrate his life, a non-alcoholic potluck will be held at 2:30 p.m., Saturday, June 20, at the family cabin at 50 Mile Chena Hot Springs Road.

A special trust fund has been established for his treasured daughter, Ashlyn Retynski, at Keybank, Acct. 7202-1202-4643.

Arrangements were by Cremation Society of Alaska.
