John Martin "Marty" Pittman left this world to be with the Lord, Dec. 5, 2012. He passed peacefully at his home near Hamilton, Texas, with his family at his side.

Marty was born Jan. 29, 1949, to Claudine Yarbrough Pittman, in Waxahachie, Texas, and moved with his family to Aurora, Colo. in 1963, where he graduated from high school.
Marty loved the outdoors and had an early love of flying. Marty was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country as a helicopter pilot in Vietnam, from 1970-71.
After his military service, Marty fulfilled his dream of moving to Alaska (Fairbanks) in 1975, where he stayed for 35 years, working on the trans-Alaska oil pipeline construction and many other jobs on the North Slope and on the Exxon Valdez oil spill at the Sea Otter Rescue Mission in Seward.
Marty was preceded in death by his mother, Claudine Bitter; and his father, Frank.
He is survived by his sister, Dana Gilbert (Robert), of Hamilton, Texas; sister, Cheryl Martinez (Roy), of Lakewood, Colo.; brother, Joe (Jerri), of Aurora, Colo.; brother, Frank, of Loveland, Colo.; and three nephews and two nieces.
