Lyndann (Lyndy) Louise Syring left her earthly home of 67 years, to live with her beloved Saviour in heaven, after a four-year battle with cancer.|
When Lyndy was 8, the family moved to Oroville, Wash.
At age 9, Lyndy accepted Christ as her personal Saviour by putting her trust in the finished work of Jesus Christ's death on the cross, for the full and final payment of her sins. Her godly character was an example and a blessing to many people through the years.
After graduating from Oroville High School in 1963, she attended Seattle Pacific College.
On July 3,1964, she married Wendell Zesiger, in Oroville. The couple lived in Seattle briefly, where Lyndy received training to become a medical technician. They moved to Spokane, where she worked as a doctor's assistant, and Wendell joined the U.S. Army.
After his basic training, they lived in Louisiana, Texas and finally, Virginia, until he was sent to Vietnam. She lived in Oroville during his tour and gave birth to their first son in 1967. In 1968, the family moved to Fairbanks. There, they were blessed with five more children.
She helped her husband build a log house on their homestead on the Chena River, which was, for a few years, accessible only by cable car, ice road or boat. She made this home for the next 36 years. She was an avid gardener who won many ribbons from the Tanana Valley State Fair, and often generously sent her abundance home with friends and family.
Lyndy homeschooled her six children and taught in the Christian schools they attended. She volunteered her love, service and time at Hospice of the Tanana Valley for more than 10 years.
She became a resident of Walla Walla, Wash., in 2004, where she enjoyed investing her time and love at the Christian Aid Center. On Aug. 7, 2009, she married Larry Hemry and they made their home in Sumas, Wash.
She will be lovingly remembered by her multitude of friends and family, including her husband, Larry Hemry; sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Bob Hilderbrand; her six children, Lyndell and Sarah Zesiger, Laurie and David Mowery, Andrew and Shannon Zesiger, Tim and Gretchen Zesiger, Jennie and David Robinson, Bethany and Isaac Drake; their father, Wendell Zesiger; 25 grandchildren; and uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Lyndy's life will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, 2013, at Bible Baptist Church, 32 Adak Ave., Fairbanks.
